Arrival & Check In info

How to find my place, parking & self check in

Getting (around and) to the building

Get to Staromestská 596/6D (or Vetline staromestska) via public transport bus (stop Zochova or Hodzovo namestie), tramp (stop Postova or Kapucinska), or Uber – recommended from the airport. Show on map. You can pay by card tap in any bus and tram, it costs 1 Eur and you are good for whole route, if you change bus you need to tap in new bus again. Within 40 minutes it charges you only once and max 4 Eur a day (official web). If you’re a fan of electric scooter there are Bolt & Tier.

Self Check In

Self check-in time is between 15:00 – 20:00, please request different time if needed, to make sure we arrange it for you. Please install Danalock App on your phones before your arrival to make sure you have a smooth self check in. You can search it in Google Play or App Store. Access will be messaged about 2-3 days before arrival. Once you receive it, follow these instructions. How to open the door is described in next section.

Opening door

Go up to 3rd floor (max 4 people in elevator). Get close to the door from previous picture with your phone. You should be logged in Danalock with login credentials I’ve sent you by now. You can reuse same e-mail/password for whole group. Make sure you have Bluetooth On and tap on green button in Danalock App (as shown on next picture). It should open within 15 seconds. Building entrance is locked after 8pm during night and unlocks at 8am, a blue(or white) chip to open building entrance during those hours is hanging inside the apartment, right by the door.

Parking

The most comfortable and expensive is to park on commercial paid parking right in front of building entrance (3 Eur / h). More reasonable priced is public city parking: 1 Eur / hour during weekend and holidays, 2 Eur / hour during weekdays (but always free during night hours from 0:00 to 8:00 am). You can find all info on city’s official parking website paas.sk – there is also a map where to park & pay. If you prefer parking garage, Saba Hrad garage is the best option near (10 min walk, 1 Eur / 20 min – outside night hours, max 18 Eur / 24 h). There is also a bit more expensive garage right next to my building on Konventná street. Read about free parking in next section further.

Free weekend & daytime parking

With new Bratislava’s parking policy getting into effect in 2024, they created a few “free” parking places within the city. A big one nearest to my place is P+R Dvory – Macharova.

There’s 95 parking lots (always free) and it’s just 3 minutes ride with public bus + 5 minutes walk to my place. You can park there for free from Friday morning until Sunday 23:59. The only limit is that you cannot park there during week’s night hours (Mon – Fri 0:00 – 05:00) as city is preventing people from leaving unused cars there with this policy enforcement. If you’re staying at my place during weekdays, you have to combine this parking with options mentioned in previous section.

Important information

  • Please don't smoke inside aparatment

Apartment is non-smoking. You can smoke on the balcony, but please close balcony door from outside when you smoke, otherwise everything goes inside.

  • Night hours

Please respect night hours 22:00 – 7:00, neighbors live across the hall who complain on groups who stay loud after night hours. They work and need to sleep during night.

  • Low balcony railing

Please beware of low balcony railing. It’s an old standard and might be dangerous for small children or very drunk people.

  • Limited hot water

Bathroom by the entrance has circulation heater so hot water is unlimited, but the pressure is lower than normal (lower the pressure, hotter the water). Second bathroom with big shower has tank with very hot water with high pressure but limited for about 4-5 people to shower right after each-other, then it needs about 1-2 hours to completely reheat.

  • Heating / Cooling

Three rooms have air conditioners which are used for cooling during summer and heating during winter. Everything is set up, you just need to turn it on/off and adjust desired temperature via remote in each room. Fourth room has electric heater to keep it warm, there is fan to make it survivable during summer. Floors in common spaces and bathrooms are heated.

  • Tap water = drinking water

Bratislava is known for having one of the best quality of tap water. The underground sources ensures the water is very well filtrated and does not require almost any further processing. I personally never buy bottle water in Bratislava and drink mostly tap water. If you like bottle water, Gemerka is Slovakia’s most favourite and a very well priced mineral water. If you want to try high minerals water I recommend Fatra, which is perfectly refilling body’s minerals after a hangover.
